Liebster Award

I think this is a really nice idea – blogs with under 200 followers nominate one another to answer eleven questions about themselves, and increase interaction between new bloggers. I’ve been nominated twice, by some lovely blogs that I’ll definitely continue to read! Thanks Scribbles and Tea and Live Life, Love Lipstick. I’ve chosen some questions from both of them (rather than answer 22 in total, I don’t think I’m that interesting). To the people I’ve nominated: the rules are that you make a post about the award, answer the 11 questions I give you, nominate bloggers with less than 200 followers, and then ask them 11 of your own questions (Your questions are at the bottom).

How do you take your tea?

Normally with a bit of milk, but I’m happy without milk, and sometimes go through phases where I prefer it without. Always strong though. Never any sugar!

Do you have a favourite quote or saying?

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou

What’s your ‘go to’ song or album?

At the moment its probably anything by The Cinematic Orchestra or This Will Destroy You (especially To Build a Home and The Mighty Rio Grande, I’m writing a book set in the Rainforest and these two evoke a lot of memories of the time I spent there)

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

The Amazon Rainforest.

Is there a book that changed your life?

Many. One Hundred Years of Solitude, Catch-22, 1984, The Lord of the Rings, Ghana Must Go, The Swarm, they’ve all had a massive effect on the way I see something, whether its love, friendship, politics or just the world we live in. All the books I love have challenged my outlook in some way.

Do you have a beauty secret nobody knows about?

I do, and I’m going to post about it so watch this space! 😉

If I gave you £500 where would you spend it and on what?

I would probably go to a few mid-priced high street shops, and then some vintage shops like Beyond Retro and the Sunday clothes market on Brick Lane. I’d also buy a Blu Ray drive for my MacBook, and order some Korean beauty products. I’ve accumulated quite a list of things to buy recently, having had no disposable income whatsoever…

If there was a ‘revolution’ would you be the hunter or the farmer?

Farmer – I’m a vegetarian!

What inspired you to start blogging?

There are so many things I want to talk about and develop my thoughts on – the internet seemed like the best place to find my voice.

What is your favourite meal to cook for others?

A massive spicy chickpea stew with rice and naan bread. One of those meals that leaves you feeling warm and happy.

Heels: Yay or Nay?

Yay – I fucking love heels I just wish I could walk in them better.

What’s at the top of your bucket list?

So many things vying for the top spot! I want to visit Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, see Iran, go to Japan, See more of the Amazon, go to New York, visit Banff National Park, see a Mangrove, go to New Zealand…

That was fun! Ok so I nominate…

  1. Brilliant answers, I love that quote too! You’re very brave wanting to live in the rainforest – I’d be too worried about all the creepy crawlies! Beautiful place though. 🙂 x

  2. Thank you for nominating me! I always find questions like these facilitating and fun.
I LOVE “The Mighty Rio Grande”! Such a beautiful and magical piece to gather inspiration from or simply close my eyes and drift away to another world.
As for the rainforest, I admire you for having been there. I would love to go, unfortunately I’m not sure if I would be able to as my body would probably not be able to stand the humidity. I’ll just get covered in rashes and be unable to breathe. 😦 Boo!

    • Oh no that’s so sad! It really is the most incredible place. I did have some asthmatic friends there and they were absolutely fine! Top tip if you do ever find yourself in South America, you can do day tours or two/three day outings to the jungle so you can still see it but not have to exist in the intense environment for too long 🙂
